Radius 5 Turntable - 2003

The Roksan Radius 5, released in 2003, stood out as an elegant, compact turntable that delivered high-end sound quality with a sleek, minimalist design. While its setup process was initially a bit more involved due to the extensive cartridge angle adjustments, a careful reading of the manual made this manageable, transforming the process into a straightforward task.

One of the initial concerns some users had was its unipivot arm, which they feared might result in a looser, less controlled sound. However, these fears were unfounded. The Radius 5’s tonearm delivered a surprisingly tight and controlled sound, far exceeding expectations. In fact, its dynamic range and presentation proved superior to comparable models, highlighting more detail and leaving instruments and vocals in sharper relief—certainly a major plus for any audiophile.

The acrylic platter offered a clean, precise playback, though some users noted that using an Extreme phono mat helped soften any slight edge in the sound, refining the already impressive clarity. While a clamp could be used, many preferred the convenience of flipping records on the fly without stopping the platter.
