The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We

Mitski | Dead Oceans

The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We is the seventh studio album by indie rocker Mitski. Despite the emotional darkness of this record, "the theme of love" is central to its lyrics, and the orchestral swirls and warm acoustic guitar’s provide a much softer vibe than previous records. Emotional, gutsy and filled with raw intensity, although quiet in the media, everything you need to know about Mitski can be found in her masterful music.

Magic 3

Nas | Mass Appeal

Nas introduces Magic 3, his seventeenth studio album on his 50th birthday. With exceptional introspections and storytelling skills, it’s more of the same from Queensbridge's finest. Its clear after 30 years in the hip-hop industry, his lyrics and flow are still unrivalled. Magic 3 serves as an end to the trilogy and the final record with superstar producer Hit-Boy. Despite this, he has years left in him yet - which will undoubtedly please rap fans everywhere.

Mid Air

Romy | Young

Romy, member of indie band The xx, releases her debut solo album, Mid Air. Regarded by Romy as a love letter to the gay clubs she attended growing up, the album references 00s dance-pop. With influences from Everything but the Girl and Calvin Harris, the album themes include love, grief, and mental health. It’s a sound that’s set to unify dance floors, offering pure euphoria and escapism, and is one of the most confident dance records in recent years.

Playing Robots into Heaven

James Blake | Republic Records - Polydor Records

Playing Robots into Heaven is the sixth studio album by English producer James Blake. Following collaborations with a whole host of hip hop artists over the past couple of years, including Kanye West, it was a surprise to see Blake return to his musical roots, with electronic, dance, and experimental music on his latest album. With varying textures, ambient soul and pulsating synths, Blake is incredibly engaging and at times, haunting.

GUTS

Olivia Rodrigo | Olivia Rodrigo PS

American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo releases her second studio album, GUTS. With guitar-driven, soft ballads, Rodrigo conceived her latest record on her transition from adolescence to adulthood, exploring her sudden stardom as a young Disney actress. She wonderfully expresses her emotions and heartbreak with a real complexity in her lyrics that make her so relatable. Overall, a superb sophomore album.
