Marnie Stern | Joyful Noise Recordings
A regular in the 8G Band, American musician Marnie Stern returns after a long hiatus for The Comeback Kid, her fifth studio album. Tearing up the guitar over hard rock riffs, mixed with sweet melodies, her latest record is a statement of intent, with electrifying urgency and energy. Stern said “I want to empower people to not be so homogenous and go against the grain a little bit.” Stern’s long-anticipated follow-up cements her as a master of her craft.

Ian Sweet | Polyvinyl Records
Vulnerability, despair, and remorse are just some of the themes covered in Sucker, the fourth album from Jillian Medford. On Medford's fourth outing as Ian Sweet, the Californian indie rocker sings about pain and heartbreak, on her most intimate batch of songs she’s ever written. Dreamlike synths, haunting guitars, and elegant choruses make it all come alive, as Medford relieves all of her aching. It’s an adventurous record, full of hope and self-realisation.

Hotline TNT | Third Man Records
New-age shoegaze band Hotline TNT follow up on Nineteen in Love with Cartwheel, their engrossing second studio album. The Brooklyn-based indie rockers mix drum-and-bass beats with gentle guitars, but with just enough grit to stick to their signature pulsing sound. With clear influences from The Replacements and My Bloody Valentine, their latest record is warm, radical, and expressive - but best of all, it's pure noise.

I Des is Scottish independent singer-songwriter King Creosote’s incredible fiftieth studio album. The indie folk veteran is jubilant on his latest venture, and marks Kenny Anderson's first release as King Creosote in seven years. The DIY pop voyager is ever-evolving, a quarter of a century since his self-inflicted coronation. Kenny offers up a beautiful collection of tracks that reflect on life, death, the universe, art and love. I Des, is a wonderfully sombre listen.
