George Ezra | Columbia
English singer-songwriter George Ezra’s third studio album moves his sound in a different direction, but once again hits the spot. The record starts as expected, but despite the anthems and upbeat tracks in the first half of the album, an intimate Ezra opens up about mental health and obsessive thoughts in the latter stages. With a wonderful selection of songs, overall, Gold Rush Kid is impeccable.

Thornhill | UNFD
On their second studio album, Australian metal-core band Thornhill keep us on their edge of our seat with their pop-metal fusion. The promising quintet from Melbourne have quickly moved to ensure their sound has progressed from their debut outing, pushing themselves to the very limit. The album is a tribute to Hollywood, and stands on its own. Although ambitious, the creative vision shows the best is yet to come.

Angel Olsen | Jagjaguwar
Indie folk rocker Angel Olsen sings through the grief on her sixth studio album. The Missouri singer-songwriter focuses on the march of time, as her hushed, soothing Nashville sound accompanies some of her darker lyrics, as she explores her own personal tragedies. Despite the darker tones; its glitzy strings, trumpets and saxophones ensure Olsen's latest record is also warm, uplifting and life-affirming.
